Jobim Sinfonico is the orchestral tribute to Brazil's Antonio Carlos Jobim, one of the worlds most influential composers. His Girl From Ipanema, remains the most-often played song on earth. This is the North American premiere of his works, adapted for orchestra by his son Paulo and arranger Mario Adnet. Symphony of the Americas will perform under the direction of maestro Claudio Cruz of the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra. Jobim Sinfonico won the 2004 Latin Grammy, classical category. The concert is the climax to the Broward Center's State to State business and cultural forum with the State of Sao Paulo and the State of Florida.

BRAND NEW HOLIDAY RELEASE! BOAS FESTAS 2 - FELIZ NATAL (TOSHIBA CD - TOCT-25497)
Released on November 17th, 2004, Lisa's new winter bossa CD is now available. Lisa Ono's second Christmas album is a sequel to the delightful Boas Festas, and another must-have Christmas collection. A collaboration between Lisa and three top Brazilian guitarists - Torinho Horta, Romero Rubambo and Oscar Castro Neves, Lisa once again sings classic and Brazilian Christmas songs in English and Portuguese.
This CD is now available outside of Japan through Kinokuniya Books USA (more international locations click here) as well as any other Japanese bookstore around the world. Dusty Groove America just announced that they will also have this CD available around December 10th.
An additional note - Lisa's original Boas Festas was re-released in 2003 and includes a very entertaining music video of Lisa and her band performing "Winter Wonderland." This version of the CD has a simple white cover and is available at Dusty Groove America, CD Japan, and Kinokuniya Japanese books (links above).
LISA'S OTHER NEW RELEASES IN 2003/2004 After recording her Italy-themed bossa nova album Questa Bossa Mia [This Is My Bossa Nova] in 2002, Lisa returned to the studio in March 2003 and created a new CD of French songs called Dans Mon Ile [In My Island]. Joining her once again was the Brazilian composer and arranger Mário Adnet, who did the arrangements on Questa Bossa Mia. Lisa's continued her world travels with the summer 2004 release of NAIMA-meu anjo, a collection of African and Arabic songs done in bossa nova style. A tribute album of Lisa's music was released this year as well, called Amigos Canta Lisa. On this CD, some of Lisa's friends (including Joao Donato, Daniel and Paulo Jobim) sing covers of some of Lisa's songs. Lisa also released a new music DVD called Video Clips 1998-2003. (This is a "region 2" DVD, for release in Japan and Europe. This DVD unfortuately will not play on standard DVD players in the USA unless you have a "region-free" player or software.)

Lisa is absolutely wonderful in concert! To get a taste of Lisa performing live, you can enjoy a couple of great songs Lisa recorded live on her 2001 Winter Bossa tour. For most of 2002 until her break for maternity leave for her first child, Lisa also performed big band samba every Monday night at her father's Brazilian music club and restaurant Saci Pererê www.saciperere.co.jp (photo to the left). Through its beautiful songs and many-colored sounds, Minaswing brings to Japan and the world the musical treasures of Minas Gerais, Brazil. The groups members include two Minas Gerais natives, one American and three Japanese, all well-known in Japan's Brazilian music scene. Many of the groups members are also current members of LIsa Ono's band, including Steve Sacks and Satoshi Ishikawa, Lisa's husband. Founded in Tokyo in early 2002, the group has already attracted a large following. On April 26, 2003 Minaswing released its debut CD "Beautiful Horizon," featuring original compositions and songs by Milton Nascimento and others.
In December 2005, Minaswing released their second CD titled "Mineral." At the present time (2007), both "Beautiful Horizon" and "Mineral" are available for purchase at HMV in Japan. HMV is very reliable and they ship world wide. Minaswing has been getting favorable reviews in and outside of Japan. Hélio Celso - Cordas e Marfim (Strings and Ivory) Pianist, composer and arranger Hélio Celso Suarez has established a successful career in Japan. Today his discography includes 12 instrumental CDs and 4 CDs with Lisa Ono as a result of a partnership of nearly 15 years. He has played with Vitor Assis Brasil, Paulo Moura, Nara Leão, Maysa, Leny Andrade and Maria Creuza. Ivan Lins called Hélio "a super musician, our Bill Evans." And Johnny Alf said: "Hélio is very talented, very creative; he adds quality to Brazilian music."

New Hélio Celso Official Website Hélio Celso's new official website is now up. The URL is http://www.heliocelso.homestead.com. Many of you know that Hélio Celso was an important part of Lisa Ono's career in the early days, and we are very excited about creating a site to make more information available about this terrific Brazilian pianist. Just posted on his site are some lovely comments Hélio sent us about working with Lisa Ono in the early days of her career. (Hélio's comments were also just added to this Lisa Ono site. You can read them on our Discography page.)

Jobim Sinfonico is the orchestral tribute to Brazil's Antonio Carlos Jobim, one of the worlds most influential composers. His Girl From Ipanema, remains the most-often played song on earth. This is the North American premiere of his works, adapted for orchestra by his son Paulo and arranger Mario Adnet. Symphony of the Americas will perform under the direction of maestro Claudio Cruz of the Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra. Jobim Sinfonico won the 2004 Latin Grammy, classical category. The concert is the climax to the Broward Center's State to State business and cultural forum with the State of Sao Paulo and the State of Florida.
